How much does a jewellery commission cost?

How much does a jewellery commission cost?

This is a question that Nicola and I get asked a lot. The truth is that there are a lot of different variables that affect the cost of a piece of bespoke jewellery. So the price can vary hugely on the type of item you are looking to have created.

These include: -

The difference between buying a piece from the high street and having a piece made specifically for you. High street jewellers reproduce pieces in large numbers whereas having a bespoke piece of jewellery made with us is a complete one off. Nicola and I design and create your dream piece of jewellery from scratch, hand fabricating each item carefully. Having a piece made with us the possibilities are endless. You can also incorporate existing pieces of jewellery that have sentimental value, but you no longer wear.

Depending on the piece our prices for a bespoke piece of jewellery start at around £500.

Thinking about a jewellery commission and not sure how to start? Don’t worry Nicola and I are on hand to answer any questions you may have. Simply get in touch via email or telephone

How we work with you on a commission

-        Make an appointment to come and see us and chat to us about the type of piece that you are looking for.

-        We will then price your jewellery up based on the initial consultation. If you decide to go ahead with the commission, we will then take a 50% deposit so that we can create design ideas for you.

-        Once the designs are ready, we will then invite you to come and discuss these with us.

-        When you have selected your dream design, we will then start to create your dream piece of jewellery. Nicola and I source the finest materials and we always hand fabricate your pieces creating a piece of jewellery that will stand the test of time.

-        Once your dream jewellery has been completed, we will call you to arrange an appointment to reveal the finished piece to you. The remaining balance is due on collection of your piece.

Eco Friendly Jewellery

Eco Friendly Jewellery

Jewellery that doesn’t cost the earth

Protecting and preserving the environment that we live in is becoming more important than ever and we need to act collectively to protect the earth and its precious resources. This impacts all different areas of life for rethinking how we travel to how we shop.

Jewellery is no exception and Nicola and I specialise in designing and creating ‘new’ family heirloom pieces form existing jewellery. Like many things jewellery goes in different styles and quite often, when these are passed down to the new generation even though they still hold the sentimental value they are often no longer in fashion or what the recipient would wear themselves. Nicola and I can transform your existing piece or pieces into a brand-new bespoke piece that reflects you and your personality whilst still holding that sentimental value.

We can repossess and reuse a wide variety of materials including silver, gold, and most precious and semi-precious stones. Read Greg and Fiona’s story about how they incorporated Fiona’s Grandmothers ring to create her engagement ring. Click here to read the full story.

How we create your ‘new’ family heirloom

Call us to make your free 15 minute initial consultation ideally we like to meet our lovely customers in person. However we can also arrange this over zoom if this is not possible (bring your pieces that you would like to use with you, so we have a closer look at the materials. This also helps us to design your new jewellery)

We will chat and create some quick initial sketches while we chat to you about your piece. Its good if you have a rough idea of what you would like, however if you don’t we can suggest ideas as we chat to you.

We will then price up your bespoke commission based on what we have talked about in your initial consultation. We will then call you and if you decide to go ahead, we take a 50% deposit so we can start creating your unique piece. This might involve further design ideas as well as fittings.

If you are having additional stones, we can order you some to look at so you are able to select the ones that you would like.

Once your bespoke jewellery is completed, we will call you and collect the remaining balance.

Do you have a piece of jewellery that you would like to be transformed? Get in touch via our enquiry page here or call us on 01482 213881.

How to commission your bespoke wedding rings

How to commission your bespoke wedding rings

Looking to have your unique wedding rings designed and created just for you? Nicola and I are here to help and support you every step of the way and we will guiding you throughout the process of creating your dream wedding rings. If you have an idea in mind that is great but don’t worry if you are not sure as we will suggest some ideas at your initial consultation.

Here are some of the things that we will go through with you.

- What materials would you like your piece to be made in? silver/ gold / platinum…a combination? If you have an engagement ring we would advise that you have your wedding band made in the same material as if it is made of a different material the softer ring will wear faster. We often have clients that come to us with existing jewellery that has sentimental value. As we can deconstruct and reuse existing jewellery to reprocess metals and repurpose stones to make your wedding bands even more special. Read Gilliand and Graham’s Commission story. They used two existing engagment rings of her Mum’s to create her wedding and engagement rings. Click here to read more.

- Shape – are you thinking a more traditional D section or flat, round, square, if you have an engagement ring do you want it to fit together with your ring?

- Width of the ring – wedding bands come in all different widths and a lot of it will depend on your fingers and if you are wearing more than one ring as well as your personal preference. We will have some examples on hand for you to try to get a better idea of what will suit you.

- Would you like to include any precious or semi-precious stones within your design?

- Pattern and texture – are you thinking about having some sort of pattern or design on your rings. Maybe there is something special to you that you would like on your rings.

- Engraving – would you like a special message or phrase engraving on the inside of your ring, or the date of your wedding?

Contact us and we will arrange a free 15 min consultation. This can either be in person or via zoom.

Once we have had the initial consultation and have an idea of the sort of piece you are looking for we will then be able to give you a quote for your bespoke piece.

We initially take a 50% deposit so we can complete further design work if required

Once the design has been finalised we will start work on your bespoke jewellery. On average each piece that we make will take between 6-8 weeks depending on the complexity of the design.

We may need you to come and try on your item during the making process to make sure that your jewellery fits perfectly.

If you have any further questions please do not hesitate to get in touch with us or simply fill out or commission form here.

Thanks for reading x
